Q. How much do wedding dance lessons cost?
A. Please contact me for current pricing. I offer options for "Pay-as-You-Go" as well as a 5-Lesson package.
Q. Do you work for a studio?
A. No, I'm an independent instructor. I work for myself and pay floor rental fees to teach at a variety of locations. Your payment will go directly to me and I will pay the floor rental fees out of that.
Q. How long are the lessons?
A. Lessons are 45 minutes long. Please try to arrive a little early so that you get the most out of your time.
Q. What forms of payment do you accept?
A. I can accept cash, check, Venmo, or Zelle at this time. Full payment will be expected at each lesson. If paying for a package, the full amount will be due at the first lesson. If writing a check, please make it out directly to me. I do not work for any other person or studio.
Q. Do you offer gift certificates?
A. Yes! Contact me and I can email a gift certificate to you or give you a paper certificate to present as a gift. Gift certificates are great for a wedding couple or anyone preparing for an event.
Q. How many lessons will we need?
A. I recommend a package of 5 lessons for a simple, yet elegant dance. The number of lessons you will need is based on multiple factors, such as whether you and your partner have any previous dance experience, how much you end up practicing on your own, how quickly you both pick things up, and how fancy/complicated you want to get with your dance. With a package of 5 lessons, we can usually learn about 3-5 moves/figures in your dance, work on basic lead/follow skills, learn a simple choreographed entrance (way to start your dance nicely), and an ending (such as a dip or other ending that fits to couple). If you want something more elaborate or choreographed from beginning to end, you may need more lessons. Contact me if you are unsure what you might need.
Q. Where do you do lessons?
A. My partner and I both teach lessons and between the two of us, we can accommodate many locations, such as: - Windsor Mill, MD - Catonsville, MD - Silver Spring, MD - Bethesda, MD - Alexandria, VA -Fredericksburg, VA
Q. When should we start lessons?
A. If you are doing the package of 5, I would recommend 1-3 months before your wedding, depending on how much time you want in between each lesson. Earlier is always best and it allows you the option to add on more lessons at the end if you feel you need them. I have some couples who start 6 months ahead of time and some who call me a week before the wedding. While last-minute lessons are not ideal, I can still help you add some polish with only a lesson or two.
Q. Can we use lessons for other people?
A. Yes. Some couples like to buy larger packages and bring parents, other family members, or even members of the bridal party to work on the parent dances or use them to learn how to dance for the reception.
Q. What do we need to bring to the lessons?
A. Your first dance music on your device that can connect to my portable speaker via Bluetooth. I recommend you wear your wedding shoes or something similar in sole material and heel height. If you have information about the size of your floor, seating arrangements, and the basic schedule of events surrounding your dance, that would be helpful to know. Please make sure you are prepared with payment for your lessons on the first day.
Q. Do you work with gay/LGBT couples?
A. Yes I do and I have worked with both male and female same-sex couples for their wedding dances in the past. Our business is LGBTQ+ friendly. Our aim is to make dancing accessible to all people.
Q. We are interested in lessons! How do we schedule one?
A. Contact me so that we can find a time and location that works for us both! My email is amanda.stearns@gmail.com
Q. Do you have any reviews or testimonials?
A. Yes! Please visit my vendor page on TheKnot.com for reviews from previous students!
Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. I need 24 hours notice of any cancellation or the student will be responsible for 50% of the lesson fee. Thank you in advance for your understanding of this policy.
